Ioannis Gkatzias was born in Larissa and completed his studies in the Department of Mathematics at the Faculty of Sciences, University of Ioannina, in 2013.

He obtained a Master's degree in "Computational Science and Material Modeling" from the Postgraduate Program "Advanced Materials" at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Polytechnic School, University of Ioannina, in 2021.

In 2019, he began working part-time as a postgraduate student in the prototyping laboratory of the Department of Architecture at the University of Ioannina.

In 2022, he was elected as Laboratory and Teaching staff in the Department of Architecture at the University of Ioannina, where he assists in teaching the following courses: Physical & Digital Space 1, 2, and Architectural Technology 3.

He manages the digital fabrication laboratory, focusing on the exploration of new fabrication methods and materials, while simultaneously meeting the department's needs with innovative and functional solutions.
