Architect Eng. and PhD in Architectural Design NTUA, MSc MIT, MArch UCLA. Has taught at UNSW Sydney, The University of Newcastle Australia, University of Patras, and Technical University of Crete. Visiting Academic at Dortmund Fachhochschule, Architectural Association and University of Cyprus. Professionally active since 1996, has also worked in the production of film (SONY Imageworks, Los Angeles).
Ηe explores new ways by which to enrich architectural thinking and practicing by also employing interdisciplinary references from sciences, arts, and philosophy, directed to experimentation for spatial organising, the studying of new structures, manufacturing methods and production means seen as “tools for thought.” by which to respond to current challenges about the environment, culture and society.
Author of Machine and Network as Structural Models in Architecture (Futura 2013 – in Greek); co-author and co-editor of Computational Design: From Promise to Practice (Avedition 2019, with M.H.Haeusler, N.Gardner); co-editor of Nexus Network Journal, “Patterns and Spatial Organisation: Culture, History and Future Perspectives” (23/01 2021, with M.Taylor); co-editor of Surface: Digital Materiality Digital Materiality and the New Relation between Depth and Surface (EAAE 2013, with N.Patsavos). Has participated in many research projects, paper publications, and conferences internationally. Has had significant awards, among others: best paper in architecture award, Conference Mongeometrija (Serbian Society for Geometry and Graphics SUGIG, Novi Sad 2018), Faculty of Engineering, Excellence in Research Creative Works (Newcastle 2014), best PhD in Architecture (NTUA 2011), 1st prize in interactive storytelling competition (SONY/MIT 2001), distinction in international architectural competition Ephemeral Structures for 2004 Olympic Games in Athens (Athens 2002).
