ATOMAA was founded in 2018 by Andrea Del
Pedro Pera, Cesare Galligani and Umberto Maj.
The practice is based in Milan and Edinburgh
and collaborates with several local artisans to
turn ideas into reality. The aim of the studio is
to propose synthetic visions for unique living
spaces.
The name ATOMAA derives from the Ancient
Greek word ἄτομος (átomos, indivisible) which
in the ancient and still in the modern Greek
idiom means person.
We believe in the human dimension of
architecture. The individual is our constant
reference. People are the clients but also the
artisans who realise the spaces. This is why
the material culture, the attraction to the
"handmade", is our most passionate reference.
The realization of a work, regardless of its
scale, crosses this personal richness, for which
it is necessary to learn multiple languages.
From the psychological and political, to the
technical and normative. From that of
aesthetics to that of economics. We believe
that listening to all these languages is the first
step towards their deep understanding.
