1974

The Senate of the University of Ioannina introduced in January 1974 the establishment of a School of Engineering with the creation of three departments; Civil Engineering, Electronics Engineering and Mechanical-Electrical Engineering. 

1977

In January 1977, the Department of Architecture was added to the submitted proposal. Unfortunately, the efforts of the University of Ioannina regarding the establishment of the School of Engineering and the creation of four new departments during the 1970s were unsuccessful.

2008

A new, thorough proposal for the establishment of a Department of Architecture at the University of Ioannina together with a draft Presidential Decree (PD) of establishment was submitted to the Ministry of National Education and Religions on April 24, 2008.
The draft Presidential Decree was approved by the Council of Higher University Education (SAPE meeting no. 12 / 24-07-2008).

2009

Το Προεδρικό Διάταγμα ίδρυσης του Τμήματος Αρχιτεκτόνων Μηχανικών στο Π.Ι. δημοσιεύθηκε στο ΦΕΚ αριθ. 206/2-10-2009.

2013

The School of Architecture which includes the Department of Architecture was established by the Article 4 of the Presidential Decree 105/2013 (Government Gazette 137/05-06-2013, vol. A').

2017

Ιδρυση Πολυτεχνικής Σχολής στο Πανεπιστήμιο Ιωαννίνων
