Korina Filoxenidou, Associate Professor of Architecture at the University of Ioannina, is an architect and a curator.
She teaches Architectural Design and Exhibition Design in undergraduate and postgraduate programs in the University of Ioannina’s Department of Architecture and Department of Fine Arts. She has coordinated numerous workshops that have been featured in Greece and prominent international events, including the Venice Biennale (2021) and Tallinn Biennale (2022). Her research interests include the design of ephemeral structures and the educational potential of architectural exhibitions, viewing them as platforms for communication and catalysts for dialogue.
She is a founding member of K&K Architects, a studio specializing in designing small and large-scale spaces, architectural installations, research projects, competitions, and the curation of architecture exhibitions. In 2006, she was part of the curatorial team for the Greek participation in the 10th Venice Architecture Biennale with the theme “The Dispersed Urbanity of the Aegean Archipelago.” The exhibition and its accompanying catalog have since become pivotal references in architectural discourse, inspiring numerous design theses and workshops both in Greece and internationally. In 2013, she has co-curated and designed the exhibition “Architecture and the City in Southeast Europe” in Thessaloniki, which brought together twenty-three architecture schools and fostered an enduring exchange of ideas among them. Her earlier work for Greece’s participation in the Prague Quadrennial, an international exhibition of theater and stage design, earned an award in 2003 for its outstanding presentation. She has collaborated with numerous cultural institutions in Greece, including the Ministry of Culture, Thessaloniki Film Festival, National Book Center, the Cultural Olympiad, the Metropolitan Organization of Museums of Visual Arts of Thessaloniki, the National Gallery etc., curating and designing several acclaimed exhibitions.
She is frequently invited as a guest critic at architecture schools in Greece, Cyprus, and London. She has presented her work extensively, including at major Greek architecture Departments. Her projects have earned distinctions in architectural competitions, they have been featured in leading architectural publications and exhibited internationally.
Korina studied Architecture at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (1998) and pursued postgraduate studies in Design at Central Saint Martins (2000) with a scholarship from the Onassis Foundation.
