Georg Rafailidis <\/h5>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Georg Rafailidis (F\u00fcrstenfeldbruck, Germany) studied physics before switching to architecture at the University of Applied Sciences, Munich (Germany), followed by post-professional studies at the Architectural Association School of Architecture (London, England). Rafailidis worked for Herzog & de Meuron in London and Basel, before teaming-up with Stephanie Davidson. Rafailidis co-authored a book on beginning design called \u201cProcesses of Creating Space: An Architectural Design Workbook\u201d (Routledge, 2017). Rafailidis is currently an associate professor at The State University of New York at Buffalo. He is Visiting Faculty at Ioannina for the 2023 Spring Semester, as a guest of CRISIS Research Lab.<\/p>
Georg Rafailidis, together with Stephanie Davidson, have formed DAVIDSON RAFAILIDIS (www.davidsonrafailidis.net). The interest underlying much of their work is the friction between the original design intentions for spaces and buildings, and the much richer built reality and unpredictable lives that buildings inevitably have. In most of their work, they study existing built conditions \u2013 sometimes these studies evolve into built works and sometimes the studies take the form of documentation (drawings, photographs, writing). The duo was recognized with the Emerging Voices award from the Architectural League of New York in 2018.
